Melissa's review of Homeschool Psych

Dr. Timothy Rice’s psychology textbook, Homeschool Psych, which is written from a Christian perspective, is exactly the curriculum Christian high school students need before they leave home and attend college. Aimed at homeschooled students, Dr. Rice’s book does a wonderful job covering all the material needed for an introduction to psychology text book. The goal of the course, as stated in the subtitle, is to prepare Christian homeschool students for Psychology 101. As the teens learn about psychology, they are being prepared to resist the brainwashing of college psychology professors. Dr. Rice includes assignments and additional research sources in the text in order to encourage students to explore beyond what was covered in the thirteen chapter book. Throughout the entire book it is clear that Dr. Rice filters all his psychological knowledge through his obviously Christian worldview. As a result, students using Homeschool Psych will be first exposed to psychology from a Christian perspective. In the introduction, Dr. Rice stated that, “Whatever you believe about psychology, the time to address academic psychology is BEFORE leaving home to go to college.” Dr. Rice is completely correct in this statement and his textbook is the best way for homeschooling families to prepare their children for college psychology.
