Spiders, snakes, and elevators

I have been listening to Intro Psychology lectures by renowned professors at two prestigious top-tier universities. These are schools we’d love for our kids to be accepted for admission.

I learned today that talking to God is delusional. Believing that one can turn water into wine was an illustration of the delusions often accompanying mania.

I learned that phobias are a type of protective psychological response that has evolved and been passed down from our early ancestors.

Early humans, as the theory goes, who were frightened of spiders and snakes and elevators were more likely to survive and pass on their genes.

  1. Um, elevators? Like the Flintstones had elevators? Really?

  2. Talking to God isn't delusional.
Continuing to listen to professors who proclaim this kind of stuff is.

Great story. I can see now why young adults might hear these kinds of statements in college, then question everything their parents ever told them.

Keep this up, Dr. Tim! More people need to hear this.
