Christian Psychology

Type the phrase “Christian Psychology” into a search engine. I just did. Of the first 10 sites listed, 5 condemned Christian Psychology and 5 were sites offering to provide it to you. The sites that condemned it called Christian psychology heresy.
Now browse your favorite homeschool catalogue. Count the number of psychology texts. Zero right? Now count the number of biology, physics, geology, astronomy, and chemistry texts. Lots right?

I believe that those who condemn psychology cast their nets too wide. Their criticisms of “counseling” psychology may be correct, but they are throwing out the baby with the bath water. Many critics seem to be thoughtful God-fearing Christians. My point is not the their criticisms of “counseling psychology” are right or in error. My point is that psychology is much more than counseling. Painting the entire discipline with the same brush used to paint counseling psychology causes many Christians to shy away from the whole field. The study of the mind, memory, emotions, learning, development, sensation, neurons, and all the other topics that comprise psychology, is right and proper for Christians
