How evolutionary psychology explains high heel shoes

There's an article in press in Evolution and Human Behavior titled, High heels as supernormal stimuli: How wearing high heels affects judgements of female attractiveness.

I'll summarize it for you. When you walk in high heels you take smaller, more frequent steps. The reduction in the length of each step is accompanied by an increased rotation the hips. More frequent steps make the hips rotate really fast, which stimulates sexual arousal in males. It also serves as a warning to potential competitors for male attention. Since all human behavior is said to have arisen in the Pleistocene era, think cave women in pumps who could run really fast.
