The appearance of complex design in the absence of a designer

In Time Magazine David Van Biema compiled four answers to the question, “can you believe in God and Evolution?”

Steven Pinker, Psychology professor at Harvard University suggested that Evolution “doesn't pretend to solve one mystery (the origin of complex life) by slipping in another (the origin of a complex designer).”

It does something worse. Evolution pretends to solve one mystery (the origin of complex life) by slipping in another (the appearance of complex design in the absence of a designer).
